Here  are some tributes from Alan’s family who have all contributed the following messages and memories for the man they loved so much.

Dad - with you, there was always a welcoming home, whether I was a child or later as an adult. You had the best hugs to the very end - I loved your hugs and I love you. I will miss your hugs - daddy's hugs were the best.

I love you and your cuddles and everything.

You taught me what nurturing was when I was a child and I will keep this part of you alive as often as I can in my interactions with others, thank you for everything and I love you and will miss you so much.

I have so many happy memories of our life together. You were the best husband I could have asked for - I will miss you.

I have very happy memories of you with my three children when they were babies; giving them their bottles and sitting with them on your chest for hours while they slept. We love you and will all miss you.

I remember always joking with my grandpa about his hair. I never knew anyone else to have a full head of dark brown hair at an older age. I’d joke with him trying to test if it was a wig and would compliment him on it – which he always seemed happy about!

I will miss the hugs and kisses you used to give me when I’d walk through the door, you always made me feel so welcome. Yours and nanny’s love for each other will always be something I admire. You were the best Grandpa we could have asked for we will miss you and always love you.

A constant source of comfort in my life, you meant a lot to me in my childhood and i am hopeful you are at peace now. Love you with all of my heart grandpa.
